I heard someone call Jason Smith (Rams OT) a bust today. And while I have never been the biggest fan of Smith's and thought he was overrated coming out. But, I still think it's entirely too early to label him a bust.
I think it's relative to the player. If you've been in the league 4 years and are on your third team and you were a first round pick...you're a bust. Or if you are in year 3 and are a contributing starter, you can't be a bust yet.
So, I ask you. How long should we wait before calling someone a bust?

Before I answer that, let me say this... NO player who is a fourth round pick (or later) should ever be called a bust. If a guy isn't good enough to be picked in the top 100 picks, he's not a bust.
As for Smith, awful pick. You know I hated it at the time and that made back-to-back misses at the top of drafts for the Rams. That my friends, is how bad teams stay bad.
I think if he doesn't show something by midway through the year people can start whispering it. If he's shown nothing by the end of the year... he's a bust.
